It's Been a Long Time!

I've been on a bit of a hiatus for the past several weeks, due to the declining health, and eventual loss of my last remaining grandparent.  Things have been rough for my family for the last year, and I needed a little time to collect myself and get back into the groove of life.  I hope to be blogging more often, but hope everyone understands if my posts are a bit scattered for a while.  There has been a lot going on.

I did want to make sure to mention that I have been using my Solutions Total Radiance skincare line, and have been getting amazing results with it.  I struggled with acne through most of my teen and early adult life, and the scarring that was left behind had me feeling less than enthused about the quality of my skin.  It's hard to put your best face forward when your face isn't it's best.  Let me be the first to tell you, though, this stuff is phenomenal.

I started out with just the cleanser and serum, and really liked the smell and feel of the products.  Eventually I purchased the day and night moisturizers, as well as the thermal cleanser/exfoliator, and lastly the eye gel.  Now that I am on a regular schedule with all of the products, I can honestly say that this is the best stuff I have ever used.

Here is the order I use the products in:

In the mornings, I wash with the thermal cleanser.  It heats up and scrubs away my impurities.  I love the way my skin feels when I rinse it off.  So soft, and clean.  As someone who still gets the occasional monthly blemish, using this regularly keeps things clear and controllable.  I find that it's gentle enough to use daily, and it really prepares my skin for the moisturizer.  I typically follow with my A.M. moisturizer, but when my skin feels extra dry, I'll sometimes use the serum, even though they recommend it for evening.  I find that it helps my make-up go on smoother, and makes my skin glow.  I've been getting comments almost everywhere I go.  I end with the eye gel, which helps my under-eye concealer go on smoothly.

In the evenings I use the regular cleanser.  It washes away all of my make-up, to the point where I feel like I don't even need a toner, anymore.  I was an avid toner enthusiast, but when I make sure to rinse well, it's a step that I can skip.  Then I put on my serum, and the P.M. moisturizer.   Sometimes, I will use the eye gel at night, but I am prone to those little white bumps, when I over moisturize the skin around my eyes.  When I wake up in the mornings, my face is really radiant.  Just like the product claims.  There have been times when I have overslept, and have not had time to put on make-up before having to leave the house, and with continued use, feel totally confident without needing to paint my face. 

I cannot recommend this stuff with more enthusiasm!  It has changed the texture of my skin, and my acne scarring is totally unnoticible, as long as I am consistent with my routine.  The price is right, too.

Just my less that $30 worth!  That's what you can pay for the entire system, if you watch the sales. :)

On Sunday, I received two contact requests via my AVON website.  These requests were from seemingly normal customers wanting to order products from me.  I sent them a reply message giving them my order site address and offering to help them, and I received these replies back:

Highly suspicious stuff, considering the broken English and requests for personal contact information.  I did the research, by Googling the term "Avon email scam", and came up with a couple of links detailing the scam.  Please read these, and educate yourselves, my Avonlings.  I do not want this happening to any of you!

Just remember, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is!!  Though you will probably be tempted to reply to these messages, even if it's merely to give them a piece of your mind, it's best not to.  Just because they aren't scamming you out of your hard earned AVON money, doesn't mean they won't sell your contact information and email address to third parties to earn a buck!  Be safe, and good luck to those of you who are out there trying to earn an honest living.

I love Sundays!

Sundays are always the day that my AVON orders arrive.  After bagging my orders for my customers, and flipping through the newest brochure, I opened and tried the last two items from the Solutions Total Radiance line that I'd ordered.  I am working on a video blog review of the products, so watch this space.  I'll post that as soon as I work out some audio issues I am having.

The Vlog!

I've made the decision to get a video blog up and running, since there are so many great AVON items I want to review and get out there into the YouTube-verse.  Since I also come from a cosmetic artistry background, I want to start putting up tutorials, and doing some product hauls.  I'm hoping to get something recorded, edited, and posted within the next couple of days, and then will be posting links to the vids here for everyone to check out.  If I can get a hundred or more subscribers in the month of September, I will give away a special AVON giftbasket to a lucky viewer.  Good luck! 

Unexpected Uses for AVON Bubble Bath!

1. Zillions of bubbles that leave NO bath tub ring.
2. Does a beautiful job on washing cars, mobile homes, RVs, and boats.
3. Great as a laundry detergent, no fabric softener needed.
4. Better than Woolite for hand washing delicates.
5. Heavily soiled laundry? Pre-soak in bubble bath for a few minutes. Can even remove ring around the collar and get the grease out of work clothes.
6. Wash windows.
7. Give pets a bath.
8. Wash no wax floors.
9. Wash dishes.
10. Wash walls and ceilings.
11. Clean bathroom fixtures and mirrors.
12. Wash appliances.
13. Use to shampoo carpets (whole room or a spot).
14. Cleans chandeliers and light fixtures.
15. Use bubbles and sponge to shampoo furniture or vehicle interiors.
16. Cleans china, windows, etc. (all glass).
17. Wash your plant leaves, they will shine. Then pour into soil as a fertilizer.
18. Upholstery stains come out by rubbing with a damp cloth dipped in full strength bubble bath. Do not wet the sponge with water. Water may leave a stain, the bubble bath won't.
19. Clean your jewelry - even costume jewelry.
20. Splatter grease or butter on a good blouse? Put straight bubble bath on the spot, let sit a few minutes and wash. No spots!
21. Wash Venetian blinds.
22. Wash paneling - no rinsing, no streaks.
23. Clean your eye glasses.
24. Put some bubble bath and a bit of water in your potpourri burner.
25. Clean your painted or real wood cupboards.
26. Fill your pump "hand cleaner" in the bathroom and kitchen, as well. That antibacterial stuff is bad for you, anyway!

I Cannot Tell a Lie!

I have been using Pantene, despite being one of the proudest AVON Reps around.  That is, before they went and changed the formula and totally put out an inferior product.  I started flipping through my new AVON brochure and decided to order a shampoo and condition from the Advance Techniques line.  I decided to go with the Damage Repair system, since it sounded similar to what I had been using before.

The first thing I noticed was the smell.  Lovely!  Throughout the day, the smell lingered, which was nice.  It was not heavy, and did not interfere with my fragrance, in the slightest.  My hair was just clean smelling.  After using it for about a week, I noticed that my hair had a little more body than usual, which is great for me, since my hair is so fine and flat.  This is without any kind of heat styling.  I have just been letting it air dry, since it's too hot here in Oklahoma to even think about a hairdryer.  My fella commented that my hair felt really soft, which isn't to say that he noticed a difference between the two products, but certainly made me want to keep using it!  He does comment every time I use the original Skin So Soft, though, so maybe I underestimated his powers of observation.

I want to say thank you, yet again, to my customers for this campaign's orders. Your business is greatly appreciated. Look for some new fragrance, and skincare samples when your orders are delivered. I took advantage of the Solutions skincare promotion to get a cleanser for 99 cents with any other skincare purchase, and will be writing a review of the Radiance line, just as soon as I've had a week or so to try it. I hear it is very similar to Clinique, which I have used in the past. Women are usually very loyal when it comes to their skincare, and their foundation, so I am totally hopeful that it will be as awesome as the other products I use from AVON. In the long run, it will save me close to a couple hundred dollars a year, and that is very exciting. This is especially so, when I think about putting that money towards next year's vacation to Austin, TX for ACL Fest!

Product Review: Clearskin Pore Penetrating Invigorating Scrub

I am constantly impressed with each new item I order from AVON. Clearskin's Pore Penetrating Invigorating Scrub is no exception! This product is very similar to another scrub that AVON discontinued in 2008, but this one has the added benefit of witch hazel, which reduces bacteria on the skin, and helps to prevent future breakouts.

When I first squeezed some out of the tube, I noticed how fine the exfoliators were. Almost like sand. I'd typically used a product which had much larger grains in it, and wasn't sure what to make of it at first. When I stepped into the shower, and got my face wet, I started polishing with it, and was instantly hit by an awesome cooling sensation. With summers as hot as they are here in Oklahoma, it felt like air conditioning for my skin. In fact, I left it on for several minutes, while I washed and conditioned my hair, because I did not want to rinse it off. When I did, though, my skin felt so smooth, and refined! I tend to dry out rather easily, but this product did not parch my skin at all. My toner and moisturizer went on smoother. My make-up looked better.

Though this is my first time using the product, I will keep faithfully trying it, until I can get my summer skin breakout back under control. I will put up another post in a couple of days to let you know how it's working. I will say, that my acne scarring from high school looked much diminished after only one use! I'm a believer, based on that alone. I do wholeheartedly recommend this product to anyone looking for a scrub that performs like a microderm, but costs less than a Starbucks vanilla latte.

My First Commercial!

This afternoon, I had a little time to kill, after distributing my AVON brochures to a few new locales. I ended up playing around with Windows Movie Maker, which I had never used before, and put together a commercial for my AVON business. AVON is Against Animal Testing!

Fragrance Review: Petal by Cynthia Rowley

First of all, I have to say how excited I am that one of my favorite designers is working with Avon! Cynthia Rowley has a knack for simple, flirty, and easy to wear clothing that make women feel beautiful. It's no surprise that her fragrance Petal, exclusively for Avon, is beautiful as well.

The packaging is just adorable. So youthful, and cute! This isn't a bottle you'll want to stash in a cabinet. You'll want it displayed on your vanity, or bathroom sink.

Though it is marketed toward younger gals, Petal appeals to women of all ages. It has a fresh cut floral (Lily of the Valley, Honeysuckle) scent, with a mix of clean greens. It makes an ideal day time fragrance, and is very subtle. Perfect for Summer, and perfect for those that are sensitive to perfumey smells. Great for when you're on the go. Wear it and feel pretty!
